FIRST QUARTER 2021: ITALIAN MACHINE TOOL
ORDERS RETURN TO GROWTH (48.6%) INTERNAL ORDERS 157.9%. FOREIGN ORDERS 30.5%
In the first quarter of 2021, the collection of machine tool orders by Italian manufacturers returned to growth. In particular, the UCIMU index, developed by the association's Center for Business Studies & Culture, shows an increase of 48.6% in the first three months of the year compared to the same period of 2020. In absolute terms, the index stood at 169 (base 100 in 2015). The overall result was mainly determined by the excellent performance of manufacturers on the domestic market. On the domestic front, in fact, Italian manufacturers note an increase in orders of 157.9% compared to the same period of the previous year. The absolute value of the index stood at 195.5. On the foreign front, orders grew by 30.5% compared to the period January-March 2020. The absolute value of the index stood at 155.
The market indications, together with the progress of the vaccination campaign, which also in Italy in recent weeks seems to have come to life, bode well for the success of EMO MILANO 2021 when companies will present their offer to operators in the world manufacturing industry who will arrive in Milan.
